Adapt Academy is not just another Martial Arts School or Boxing Gym, we are a thriving community that is dedicated to you and your child's growth and personal success.

Adapt Academy has been servicing the Illawarra for Hapkido and Boxing since the 2000’s, however we formally rebranded to become Adapt Academy in 2020.

Recognised as The Illawarras Best Martial Arts School in 2022, we have been consistently honoured as finalists for close to a decade. Our academy sets the standard for excellence in martial arts and boxing education.

Our Academy also hosts boxing fight nights, providing a platform for local amateur and professional fighters to showcase their talents, including many of our own hardworking Adapt Amateurs.

At Adapt, we are more than just instructors and coaches; we’re mentors, role models, and champions of your journey.

Situated in the heart of Wollongong at 234 Corrimal Street, our Academy offers easy access with ample parking on Swan Street.

Adapt is a family run business, Master Kostas mum Miss Dee is an instructor, his fiancee Sarah is behind the desk, and his little girl Kalani can be found on the mats.

Our classes start from as young as 3 years old all the way to adults. We cater to individuals of all ages and abilities, promoting fitness and well being for the whole family.

Our classes are not only separated by age, but also by experience level.  Our high teacher-to-student ratio, ensures that every member receives individualized attention and support, and doesn’t get lost in the crowd.

Our team is comprised of award-winning instructors who excel in their respective disciplines, dedicated to providing you with top-tier martial arts and boxing instruction.

Our team have all been students of the school since they were children, meaning they understand the journey you are on.
Our team pride ourselves on being role models, leading by example by regularly training in our school.

    Our Values

We believe the small things matter.
Showing up, even when it is hard counts. We believe in showing control where overwhelming force will do little but damage and to use power when it is warranted.
It isn’t about a false style of over-the-top strictness, but rather understanding where the boundaries are and showing integrity and excellence in everything that we do.

Martial arts Is the journey of a lifetime.
We believe in helping our students and staff achieve over the long term. Short-term pushes that burn people out help no one. We would rather a student runs their own race and grade at their own pace than pushing for artificial goals. Life has its up and down, and we want our students and staff to be able to find their way forward in their life and studies and find success that has a lasting impact.

Life has ups and downs, but they don’t have to be at the extremes. We have found that sometimes the most joy can be when things just flow. We want to make our students’ journey with us smooth. From finding us to joining up to reaching your blackbelt and beyond we want to remove the obstacles and decrease the friction of getting to your goals. Sometimes flowing with a technique or a goal and learning how to move smoothly by slowing down a little can help the student and staff member get to the place they never dreamed of.

People thrive when they understand that someone has their back.
We want to create a community that provides that support to both our students and staff. Equally, people need to own their success.
We will provide first-class training to all our staff and students and provide them with the space to use what they have learned in practice.
When life's ebbs come by, we will always be ready to stand with them.

We invest in people and look for positive change in their lives.
Martial arts and boxing are about continual learning and understanding how to adapt the style to your ability. Students do their best when they let their ability stretch them and make them sometimes a little uncomfortable.
We love seeing staff and students achieve things they never thought they could do.
